NSW: More transparency needed in investigation: oppn
The New South Wales opposition has called for more transparency in police investigations,
after the suspension of a high-ranking police over sexual misconduct allegations.
The Sunday Telegraph says a 46-year-old Hurstville officer has been accused of inappropriate
behaviour by at least one female officer.
The newspaper says he's been given until tomorrow by Police Commissioner KEN MORONEY
to show why he shouldn't be sacked.
Opposition police spokesman PETER DEBNAM says the government throws up a wall of silence
around such allegations and that rattles public confidence in the investigation process.
Mr DEBNAM also says the police commissioner's powers should be reviewed unless there's
a more transparent process.
The government has yet to comment on the case.
