NSW: Carr offers Beazley a helping hand

New South Wales Premier BOB CARR has reportedly offered a credibility boost to KIM
BEAZLEY'S leadership by playing a leading role at next year's federal election.

Buoyed by the reaction to the Olympics, Mr CARR has told The Daily Telegraph that his
own achievements could help Mr BEAZLEY convince business that Labor is ready to govern.

According to the newspaper, he stresses that he is not trying to fill a vacuum in Mr
BEAZLEY'S leadership, but to use his own good standing with New South Wales business.

Predicting a Labor victory at next year's poll, Mr CARR says he wants to maintain communication
between federal Labor and the business community.
