Google Market Share Less than 20% in China Last Q4
BEIJING, Jan 25, 2011 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- The market share of Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG), a leading search service provider, only hit 19.6% in China in the fourth quarter of 2010, declining for the fourth consecutive quarter and being less than 20% for the first time since the second quarter of 2007, according to the latest report by Analysys International.
Meanwhile, archrival of Google Baidu Inc. (Nasdaq: BIDU) took 75.5% in the Chinese search engine market, thanks to its open platform strategy and promotion of products and service, which boosted its traffic and lured more advertisers. Its market share remained positive growth through out the year of 2010.
While its advertising revenues from search service were increasing, Baidu balanced its business portfolio and cashed in on operations that attracted more traffic.
Google witnessed rising proceeds in absolute value in China in 2010, although suffering from slow growth and withering market share in the country, due to uncertain strategy and cooperation forms.
